In April 2005, the Joint Contracts Committee published the New Agreement and Schedule of General Conditions of Building Contract (the New Standard Form) for use in Hong Kong.
The author provides some background, part way through the drafting process, to the New Standard Form, and reviews the major differences between the New Standard Form and its predecessor.
Background to revision of the New Standard Form – Major differences between the New Standard Form and its predecessor, including Architect's instructions, directions and requirements, variations, provisional quantities and provisional sums, practical completion and defects liability, extensions of time, direct loss and expense caused by events materially affecting the regular progress of the Works, nominated sub-contractors and nominated suppliers, certificates and payments.
